30 August 2012 Poetry Night at the Czuły Barbarzyńca

This is going to be a really long and special night in Krakow's Powiśle. On Friday (the 7th of September) at 8 p.m., the Czuły Barbarzyńca bookshop-café will launch its Poetry Weekend. The event is part of the programme of the 2nd Krakow Poetry Night.

Anyone who decides to come to Czuły Barbarzyńca at 8 p.m. will be able to listen to poems written by the members of the Krakow branch of the Polish Writers' Association, presented in their authors’ interpretation. Each poem will be connected to another culture; poets will explain what places, circumstances, events, and emotions inspired them. In addition, the hosts will read out that day’s hottest headlines from  different corners of the world and different cultures. The event will be led by Wojciech S. Wocław.

An hour later (at 9 p.m.), the stage will welcome Czesław Mozil, who will perform tracks from his first record, Debiut, with lyrics by Michał Zabłocki, as well as songs from his latest release, Czesław śpiewa Miłosza.

Then, at 10 p.m., the day will end with a poetry fair, Talk to a Poet. The bookshop gathered more than a thousand poetry volumes by Polish and international authors, specifically for the purposes of the fair. Readers will be able to meet: Ewa Nowakowska, Elżbieta Wojnarowska, Alicja Baluch, Józef Baran, Szczęsny Wroński, Wojciech Kudyba, Jadwiga Malina, Elżbieta Zechenter Spławińska, Bożena Boba-Dyga, Beata Szymańska, Mateusz Pieniążek, Eligiusz Dymowski, and Anna Skoczylas. The fair will end at midnight.

The youngest poetry lovers are invited to Tender Rhymes on Sunday, the 9th of September. Actors will read out children's poems by famous and well-loved Polish poets. We start at 11 a.m.
