22 October 2012 Exchange your books – two editions

This week is going to be abundant with literary events. As every year, the Conrad Festival and the Book Fair will attract thousands of literature buffs to Krakow. Everyone who enjoys reading and is looking for new, absorbing books, is invited to the two special editions of the Second Life of a Book event: in the Fair hall and in Galeria Krakowska. The event starts on Thursday, the 25th of October.

First, at 10:00 a.m., the book exchange will start at the Conrad Festival stand (A26) at the Book Fair (ul. Centralna 41a), where we will await you everyday until Sunday (the October of 28th), during the Fair’s opening hours: 25 October – 10:00 am.- 5:00 p.m.; 26-27 October – 10:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.; and 28 October – 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Two hours later, at noon sharp, we are meeting at the inauguration of the event at Galeria Krakowska (ul. Pawia 5, Hala Grodzka, level -1), where the exhibition Fashion in Reading: from Clay Tablets to E-Books) will last until the 4th of November. For almost two weeks (with the exception of the 1st of November, when Galeria Krakowska is closed), from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., you can exchange books there as well. Undoubtedly this is the longest edition of our event. We hope to establish an attendance record and we are counting on your presence. You will find more detailed information on: www.galeria-krakowska.pl.

NOTE: in the event you do not find anything of interest to you in Galeria Krakowska, you can look for books at the Book Fair, and vice versa (upon presenting special vouchers received in return for donated books).

Remember: Everyone can take part in the The Second Life of a Book event. Bring at least one, and no more than ten books. The books have to be in a good condition. Books published before 1995 can only be exchanged for other books published before 1995. Those who bring new books (published after 1995), can choose from both the new ones and the older ones. More information on the event’s website: www.drugiezycieksiazki.pl

The Second Life of a Book event is a joint initiative of the Bookeriada website and Krakow Festival Office, organised each month since February 2012. In the ten editions so far, more than two thousand people participated, and nearly four thousand books found new owners. Several hundred were donated to libraries.

Gazeta Wyborcza, radio RMF Classic, Strefa Wolnego Czytania, Fragile and OPUS-M are the partners of the event.
