1 March 2013 Starring Mrożek

This coming Thursday (the 7th of March), the third volume of Sławomir Mrożek’s Dziennik (Diary), including the years 1980-1989, will come out under the imprint of Wydawnictwo Literackie. Thus, one of the most important editorial undertakings for Polish culture is coming to an end. Written for several dozen years in more than thirty cities, over a dozen countries and on three continents, Mrożek’s Dziennik is an outstanding, deeply philosophical work, at the same time providing lots of invaluable information on the life of this eminent dramatist.

On the occasion of the premiere, Wydawnictwo Literackie would like to invite everyone to a meeting dedicated to Sławomir Mrożek on the 12th of March (Tuesday). Participants of the discussion will include Professor Marta Wyka, Professor Maciej Urbanowski, Magdalena Miecznicka, and Professor Jerzy Stuhr who will also read passages from Dziennik. The discussion will be chaired by Magdalena Mikołajczuk, reporter for Polish Radio 1. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Mehoffer Room of the Wydawnictwo Literackie seat (ul. Długa 1). Admission is free.

Important information for all those who will not be able to make it to the Mehoffer Room that day: the meeting will be broadcast by Polish Radio 1.

The evening dedicated to Sławomir Mrożek’s personal notes is yet another event organised as part of the jubilee celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the foundation of Wydawnictwo Literackie.
