20 May 2013 Nike Award nominations

The Jury of the Nike Literary Award has announced the nominees for this prestigious statuette. Some of them are from Krakow. For the first time in the award’s history, a comic book creator has been nominated.

The following Krakow authors will have a chance to win the statuette: Jerzy Pilch for his Dziennik, Zośka Papużanka for her Szopka and Tadeusz Lubelski for the essays collected in Historia niebyła kina PRL. They will have to defeat works such as Ciemno, prawie noc by Joanna Bator, Cwaniary by Sylwia Chutnik, Pasja według Hanki by Anna Janko, Patrz na mnie, Klaro! by Kaja Malanowska, Noc żywych Żydów by Igor Ostachowicz, Fuga by Wit Szostak, Morfina by Szczepan Twardoch, and Trociny by Krzysztof Varga.

The nominees also include Tadeusz Sobolewski for his volume of recollections, Człowiek Miron. Maciej Sieńczyk has been nominated for the Nike Award for creating the Przygody na bezludnej wyspie comic book.

In September, the list of nominees will be narrowed down to seven persons, and the winner of the Nike Award will be announced on the first Sunday of October.
