15 October 2017 Titles nominated for the Conrad Award in the Radio Library of Radio Kraków

In late October Krakow will experience a week-long literary feast – the programme of Conrad Festival is full of meetings with authors, workshops, discussions and debates.

In the meantime, starting from 16 October, Radio Kraków will broadcast fragments of the five Conrad Award-nominated literary debuts. From Monday to Friday at 11.45 – five books and five days with the honoured prose read by Beata Schimscheiner. Stay tuned! The titles nominated for this year’s Conrad Award were singled out by the jury consisting of literary scholars, journalists and critics chaired by the artistic director of the Conrad Festival, Professor Michał Paweł Markowski.

Ganbare! Warsztaty umierania by Katarzyna Boni, Ma być czysto by Anna Cieplak, Jak pokochać centra handlowe by Natalia Fiedorczuk, Wśród przyjaciół by Maciej Sieńczyk, Wakacje by Grzegorz Uzdański.

We remind you that the Conrad Award winner and the author of the best debut in 2016 will  receive PLN 30 000, a month long residency stay in Krakow and a commemorative statuette. The vote will be held till midnight on Saturday 28 October at: www.conradfestival.pl. The award will be given on the next day (Sunday 29 October) at a ceremonial gala concluding the 9th edition of the Festival. Just like in the previous years, a master lecture on the art of writing will be given before the award ceremony. This time it will be a lecture by Siri Hustvedt, an American writer, essayist and poet.
