9 October 2010 'Lekcje czytania' nominated for MediaTory Awards.

Lekcje czytania (Reading Lessons), a project of the Tygodnik Powszechny Foundation, was nominated for this year’s MediaTory Student Journalist Awards.

The initiative of Tygodnik Powszechny is a cycle of meetings during which secondary school and university students (as well as other interested persons) have an opportunity to talk about selected literary texts with the most outstanding Polish writers and critics. During this year’s edition of the Conrad Festival as many as three such meetings will be held: Ewa Kuryluk will deliver a “lesson” about her Goldi, Piotr Paziński will talk about Agunot by Agnon, and lectures of Michał Paweł Markowski will be devoted to Rozmowy w górach (Conversations in the Mountains) by Celan. Details of the project are also available on the website: www.lekcjeczytania.tygodnik.com.pl.

MediaTory 2010 is a poll in which students of journalism from several Polish universities select the most important journalistic and media initiatives in the given year. Lekcje czytania were nominated in the Reformator (Reformer) category, and Tygodnik Powszechny was also nominated in the Prowokator (Provocator) category for its special addition Żydownik Powszechny containing texts on anti-Semitism, the Holocaust and the Jewish heritage in Poland.
