9 December 2010 Krakow is a city of literature – tell us why and win prizes!

From today, you will find a special questionnaire in nearly 30 cafes, cultural institutions, bookshops and galleries in Krakow and in points of the InfoKrakow city information network. Together with Gazeta Wyborcza and the Free Reading Zone, we ask you to fill in this questionnaire by entering five reasons for which Krakow is a city of literature in your opinion. The filled questionnaire should be returned to the personnel. The questionnaire form will also be available here and on www.biurofestiwalowe.pl. The campaign will last till the end of the year.

We will make use of information collected from you in an application for entering of Krakow into the UNESCO list of Cities of Literature. From among persons who will specify at least three reasons, we will draw prizes. You can win tickets to Rynek Underground and sets of books from the Gazeta Wyborcza Collection and gadgets funded by Gazeta Wyborcza. The prize draw will take place on 10th January 2011.

The prestigious title of the UNESCO City of Literature has been awarded only four times so far: to Edinburgh, Melbourne, Iowa and Dublin. Krakow intends to join this group and reinforce its position as one of the most important literary centres in Europe. Content-related consultations in the group of outstanding experts are over – now it is time for social consultations, and this questionnaire is a part of them.

We invite you to fill it in!
