18 July 2011 In Ukraine I get aggressive - Yuri Andrukhovych in the latest Przekrój

In the latest edition of the Przekrój weekly, you can find an interview with Yuri Andrukhovych – a Ukrainian writer and guest of last year’s Conrad Festival. “A month ago in Switzerland I had a dream, as if thought up by Jung himself,” says Andrukhovych. “In the dream I was drinking tap water, and then had a pang of anxiety, thinking – what am I doing? I’m in Ukraine, and in Ukraine drinking tap water means getting sick or getting indigestion (…). I dreamt of fear of my own homeland. In Switzerland you can drink almost any water you like – tap water, water from rivers, fountains. If there are no plaques forbidding it – and throughout my trip I just saw two of those.
