16 August 2011 New book by Jacek Gutorow

Księga zakładek (The Bookmark Book) by Jacek Gutorow, another volume of the Szkice (Sketches) series published by Biuro Literackie, was released in July. The series presents texts about poetry and poets and includes such works as: Niepojęte: Jest (The Incomprehensible: Is) by Marian Stala and Dorzecze Różewicza (The Różewicz River) by Tadeusz Różewicz.

Księga zakładek is another step in the direction set by Gutorow in his previous books. In his reviews, sketches, interpretations, essays and impressions, he asks questions about continuity and milestones in the history of Polish poetry in the 20th century. He writes about Witold Gombrowicz, Miron Białoszewski, Marcin Świetlicki, Dariusz Sośnicki, Andrzej Sosnowski, Marcin Baran, Wojciech Bonowicz, Mariusz Grzebalski and Piotr Czerniawski. The list of authors is very long and diverse.

Jacek Gutorow is a poet, translator and critic and a laureate of many prestigious awards, including the Kazimiera Iłłakowiczówna Award (1998), the Culture Foundation Award (2003) and the Ludwik Fryde Award (2003). He was nominated for the Nike Literary Award, the Gdynia Literary Award and the Cogito Public Media Award for Inne tempo (A different tempo), published in 2008.

It is worth remembering that Jacek Gutorow has participated in all the previous editions of the Conrad Festival.
