28 September 2011 This year's programme of the Conrad Festival unveiled!

The beginning of November will see some great personalities of world literature and a select circle of Polish writers arrive for the third edition of the Conrad Festival. Guests who accepted invitations to the festival, considered one of the most important literary events in Europe, include Michel Houellebecq, Roberto Calasso, Alberto Manguel, David Grossman, Eva Hoffman, Zeruya Shalev, Namita Gokhale, Anders Bodegard, Andrei Hadanovich, Vladimir Neklyaev, as well as acek Dehnel, Andrzej Stasiuk, Tadeusz Sławek, Maciej Zaremba Bielawski, Manuela Gretkowska and Marek Bieńczyk. Held under the slogan In search of lost worlds (W poszukiwaniu utraconych światów), this edition will be opened on the 2nd of November and last five days , to Sunday the 6th of November.

In addition to nearly forty meetings with writers (free admission to all events), festival audiences will have an opportunity to attend unique musical events. On the first day (8 pm, the 2nd of November), we will you invite to the Krakow Opera House for the opera Itamar Meets a Rabbit, based on a David Grossman story, and the following day – on Thursday, the 3rd of November – to the Rotunda Cultural Centre. First, for the meeting with Tomasz Budzyński hosted by Andrzej Stasiuk, and then for a concert by Tomasz Budzynski and Friends. Moreover, at 6.00 pm on Thursday (the 3rd of November), Teatr Stary will host a premiere of a show directed by Jan Klata koprofagi czyli znienawidzeni ale niezbędni, drawing on two of Joseph Conrad's novels: Under Western Eyes and The Secret Agent.
