Joanna Ostrowska

Doctoral student of the Chair of Hebrew Philology of the Jagiellonian University, student of film science at the Jagiellonian University, film and television production at the Łódź Film, Television and Theatre School and Gender Studies of the University of Warsaw. She is also a member of Krytyka Polityczna and participated in the establishment of the Modern Art Section. She has published her texts in Krytyka Polityczna, Ha!art, Zadra, Słowo Żydowskie, Polityka, Film, Res Publika Nowa and Teksty Drugie. She was a lecturer at the Chair of Hebrew Philology of the Jagiellonian University, at Gender Studies of the Jagiellonian University, Gender Studies of the University of Warsaw and Gender Studies in the Institute for Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Currently she is doing research on prostitution in Poland during World War II as a part of her doctoral studies and is continuing research on prostitution in and near concentration camps. Her favourite research topics include also the situation of homosexuals and lesbians in the Third Reich and the phenomenon of pornographisation of the Holocaust. At the Conrad Festival she will conduct a meeting entitled: „Unrest – Ryszard Apte and the Holocaust” at the Book Fair in Krakow on 7 November (Sunday), at 3.00 p.m. (ul. Centralna 41a).
