Michał Rusinek

(born 1972) – literary scholar, translator, writer, lecturer at the Faculty of Polish Studies of the Jagiellonian University. Author of humorous poems, children’s books and lyrics. In 1997–2012, Wisława Szymborska’s secretary, currently the president of the foundation named after her and the guardian of the poet’s archive. He received his doctorate for his dissertation titled Między retoryką i retorycznością (2003). Together with Anna Załazińska, he wrote the guidebooks Retoryka podręczna. Czyli jak wnikliwie słuchać i przekonująco mówić (‘Handy Rhetoric: or How to Listen Attentively and Speak Convincingly’) (2007) and Retoryka codzienna. Poradnik nie tylko językowy (‘Everyday Rhetoric: A Guidebook on More than Language’) (2010). He is interested in children’s linguistic imagination. Based on anecdotes received from readers, he published Jak przeklinać? Poradnik dla dzieci (‘How to Curse: A Guide for Children’) (2008) and Jak robić przekręty? Poradnik dla dzieci (‘How to Twist Words: A Guide for Children’) (2010). Together with Antonina Turnau he published the mystery Prowincjonalne zagadki kryminalne (2006), and with Joanna Olech – a collection of memoirs Kiedy byłem mały. Kiedy byłam mała (2010). He is also the author of Limeryka (2006), a collection of poems. He has translated many books of classical literature for children, including books by A.A. Milne, Michael Bond and Charles M. Shulz.
