Szczepan Twardoch

A prose writer and the author of novels and short stories. He comes from the Upper Silesia region. He has come a long way from fantasy short stories to a novel entitled Morfina [Morphine], for which he was awarded Polityka’s Passport in 2012. His collection of short stories Tak jest dobrze [It Is Good This Way] was nominated for the Gdynia Literary Award, and so was Morfina a year later. In 2015, his another novel Drach came out; history and Silesia play a special role in it. He received the Kościelscy Foundation Award for this novel. Morfina was translated into German, Franch, Hungarian, Serbian and Czech. Drach was translated into German, too – in September 2016, this translation won the Berlin Brücke award. In October 2016, Twardoch's new novel Król [King] was published.
