Timothy D. Snyder

American Professor at Yale University specialising in the history of modern nationalism and Central and Eastern Europe, one of the most widely-read historians in the English-speaking countries. Author of the highly acclaimed book The Reconstruction of Nations: Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, Belarus, 1569-1999, in which he tried to trace the evolution of national identity in these countries. Thinking the Twentieth Century is a record of his conversations with eminent historian Tony Judt that took place over the course of several months. His book Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin was also published in Poland.
