To say that a work is the most original in a writer’s body of work is a cliché. Unless that writer is Georges Perec – then we no doubt feel the gravity of the situation. The short novel, written in 1979, seems to be inconspicuous at first glance, but its power and significance are easily measured: just look at the fascinating later chapters of the story of this work. Members of the legendary literary group OuLiPo will talk about the mystery of one text and its influence on the whole of today's French literature.
