children and youth | On Families in Estonian

children and youth | On Families in Estonian

Vassel is old enough to go to kindergarten. His baby brother Joona isn’t, so there are lots of things he doesn’t know yet, although his mum and dad say he just knows them his own way. Dad likes all animals, Vassel prefers those which are smaller than him, while Joona is even afraid of chickens – although he’s no chicken when it comes to ghost stories! They are all different, but they love each other and have great fun together! Anti Saar’s The Way Things Are With Us was awarded the Raisin of the Year 2013 prize for best children’s book in its native Estonia. The meeting launches the project “Close Distant Neighbours”, publishing and promoting books by acclaimed Estonian and Finnish authors.
