High heels Project - Women from Schulze’s circle - exhibition launch

Interactive exhibition
Anna Kaszuba - Dębska
It's the continuation of the PhD thesis of Anna Kaszuba-Dębska entitled Women from Schulze’s circle carried out at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under the tuition of Professor Maciej Buszewicz. Both projects discover stories of Schulz’s women contemporaries and of our contemporaries. For two years, the authors have researched archives all over the world in the search of information about women from a hundred years ago who had inspired Schulz in his drawing and prose. On the grounds of this research, an installation has been set up – a Book containing archival photographs and texts of contemporary female artists from various countries inspired by historic figures. High heels Project is a multi-stage enterprise with its beginning in Drohobycz, the birth place of Schulz, during the 5th Bruno Schulz Jubilee Festival. The artist presents women’s shoes with interesting history that by application of painting techniques and new technologies are transformed into works of art thus acquiring new significance and meaning thanks to the specially constructed code of pictograms and QR codes. High heels Project enters urban space, takes advantage of possibilities offered by mobile phones while in the cyberspace (www.projektszpilki.pl) every spectator can create their own composition and discover women’s stories themselves.
