Book Congress
The Book Congress, organised as part of the Joseph Conrad International Literary Festival, is a series of meetings revolving around the book market and the publishing trade.
Each year the debates for the representatives of the industry and broader audiences are organised at the Conrad Festival.
The Book Congress is part of the Conrad Festival and a nationwide platform for dialogue between the players active in the publishing sector and literary life. “It is a truly unique endeavour in Poland and the only place where authors, publishers, librarians, booksellers, translators and readers can meet each other at the same time and in one place. The debates bring people together, enable us to talk about the ongoing issues and seek viable solutions. This is possible thanks to extensive cooperation with the Literary Union Association and the Polish Literary Translators’ Association, as well as the Polish Chamber of Books," says Urszula Chwalba, executive director of the Conrad Festival and curator of the Kraków – UNESCO City of Literature programme.
The Book Congress is an event held within the framework of the Conrad Festival, produced in cooperation with the Literary Union Association and the Polish Literary Translators’ Association, held under the honorary patronage of the Polish Book Chamber.
Conrad Festival is organised by: The City of Kraków, Krakow Festival Office, operator of the Kraków – UNESCO City of Literature programme and the Tygodnik Powszechny Foundation.
The festival was financed from the funds of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the Heritage as part of the Promoting Readership Programme.
