Reading Lessons with Joseph Conrad

Reading Lessons is a nationwide project promoting reading among teenagers that has been organised for many years by the Tygodnik Powszechny Foundation. The intention of these out-of-class meetings with literature is to encourage high school students to concentrate on reading and develop critical thinking. This year’s series of Reading Lessons, centred around the figure of Joseph Conrad, is meant to make students familiar with the writer they know from the required reading list. The programme includes 20 lessons conducted in schools. They will be thematic meetings led by literary experts, each focused on a selected Conrad’s text. Participants will reflect together on how literature can provide answers to the most pressing challenges of the present day, such as issues related to migration, geopolitics, terrorism, otherness, travel and the widely understood crisis of culture. You can submit your application by sending an email to lekcjeczytania@tygodnik.com.pl.
