3 October 2011 Nike 2011 for Marian Pilot
Marian Pilot has been awarded the 15th Nike Literary Award 2011. He was recognised for his novel Pióropusz. “It’s not a nice, enticing, chic, easy and pretty book. It is rough, audacious, intoxicating, vigorous and intricate. We should recognize this formula as a very apt one, and what is more, expressed in the language of the novel, which in the overflow of words, in neologistic productivity, finds its power, shelter and support,” stated Professor Grażyna Borkowska, a chair of the jury, during her laudatory speech.
The final seven nominees of this year’s Nike Award included three books of this year’s Conrad Festival guests: Ballady i romanse by Ignacy Karpowicz; Justyna Bargielska's Obsoletki and Andrzej Stasiuk’s Dziennik pisany później. Nominees also included the novel Chmurdalia by Joanna Bator, who was a guest of last year’s edition of the festival.
