Åsa Lind

Åsa Lind

She was born in 1958, the youngest of four sisters, and grew up in the village of Karbäcken in northern Sweden. The kitchen table in her family home was the center of her world. It was probably there, surrounded by stories from loved ones and stories coming from the radio, that she became a writer, long before she learned how to write. She cannot imagine life without reading and writing.

In her books, she tries to capture seemingly elusive things, experiments with language, and tries to discover it anew. Because what can actually be expressed in words? How to "write" a color? How to "tell" a scent? Can you fit space into a book? Åsa Lind wants to write books that do not lie and to which you want to return. Because a good book is one that can be read many times, preferably aloud.

Åsa Lind is a member of the Swedish Academy of Children's Literature. He is actively involved in promoting good literature for children and teenagers and conducts meetings and lectures in which he talks about the tangible benefits of reading books.
