Haśka Szyjan

(b. 1980) – a Ukrainian blogger, photographer, traveller, writer and translator. She is a classical philologist by education. She lives in Lviv. She performed at numerous literary festivals, among others, in Edinburgh, Lviv and Kyiv. In 2012, she translated into Ukrainian Lights Out in Wonderland – a novel by DBC Pierre, which was awarded the Booker Prize. In 2014, her first book Hunt, Doctor, Hunt! was published; it was nominated for the BBC Ukrainian Book of the Year award. Her short stories have been published in numerous collections and anthologies. She collaborates with the Prosto Neba magazine.
