Jan Bajtlik

Born in 1989. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (in 2013, a thesis on typography for children Typogryzmol and a diploma in Professor Lech Majewski’s studio of publishing graphic design and in Professor Maciej Buszewicz’s studio of book design). He creates posters, illustrations and designs books. He has illustrated such magazines and newspapers as: Architektura, Tygodnik Powszechny, Gazeta Wyborcza, Przekrój. He cooperates with various publishing houses, companies, cultural institutions, non-governmental organisations, as well as with Atelier Michel Bouvet in Paris and Norio Fujishiro in Japan. He executes his own publishing projects, poster campaigns within the public space and runs typography workshops for children. He designs books for children. His works have been awarded at many exhibitions in Poland and abroad. He received a silver medal at the 10th International Poster Triennial in Toyama, grand prix at the 2011 Skopje International Poster Festival, and honorary mention at the 12th Poster Biennial in Mexico for a poster entitled Remember. In 2011, he was awarded the grand prix for his poster Dom [Home] in a competition held by AMS. His book for children, Europa Pingwina Popo [Penguin Popo’s Europe], was awarded with a honorary mention at a 2011 book of the year competition organised by the Polish division of the IBBY. Many of his works have been socially involved. On 18th October he is going to conduct Typo-doodling -- typographic workshop for children aged 5-8 years.
