Jan Gondowicz
literary critic, translator, essayist and columnist. He graduated Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw. In 1971, he made his debut as a journalist on the pages of Warsaw's Kultura magazine. An outstanding expert on the works of Witkacy and Bruno Schulz, among others. In 2006, he received the Literatura na Świecie Award for his translation of Raymond Queneau's Exercises in Style. For his lifetime of translation work, Gondowicz was nominated for the Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński Award in 2019. In the same year, his collection of essays Duch opowieści was nominated for the Gdynia Literary Award. In 2021, he won the Adam Mickiewicz Award – Poznań Literary Prize.
