Magdalena Heydel
Magda Heydel is a translator of English-language literature.She has translated numerous works by Joseph Conrad, T.S. Eliot, Seamus Heaney, Ted Hughes, Katherine Mansfield, Sinéad Morrissey, Alice Oswald, Derek Walcott, Virginia Woolf and Roald Dahl.Scholar of Polish and English and professor at the Jagiellonian University.She leads the Centre for Translation Studies and the Master’s course in literary and cultural translation at the Faculty of Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University.Editor-in-chief of “A Journal of Translation Studies”,holder of a grant from the Foundation for Polish Science and the Fulbright Foundation,twice-winner of the “Literatura na Świecie” prize, the European Poet of Freedom Literary Award and the Gdynia Literary Prize.She works with the “Tygodnik Powszechny” weekly.
