Małgorzata Lebda

She grew up in the village of Zeleźnikowa Wielka. Author of six volumes of poetry, including the award-winning Matecznik and Sny uckermärkerów, which won the 2019 Gdynia Literary Award. Her latest volume titled Mer de Glace (Wydawnictwo Warstwy, 2021) won the Wisława Szymborska Award (2022). Her books have been translated into Czech (by Bogdan Trojak), Italian (by Marina Ciccarini), Serbian (by Biserka Rajčić), Ukrainian (by Yury Zavadsky), Slovenian (by Katarina Šalamun-Biedrzycka), Danish (by Frej Larsen and Pawel Partyka), Romanian (by Marina Ilie). Doctor of the humanities. Columnist, cultural animator, editor, scientist. Ultramarathon runner - in September 2021, she covered a distance of 1113 kilometres along the Vistula River as part of her activist/poetry project Reading Water (https://magazynpismo.pl/soczewka/czytanie-wody-wisla/). Her prose debut, the book Łakome, was published in 2023 by Wydawnictwo ZNAK Publishing House. She lives with her flock on a ridge in the Beskid Sądecki.
