Ryszard Koziołek
a writer, literary scholar and academic lecturerPolish Studies scholar, essayist, professor at the Institute of Polish Studies at the University of Silesia, rector of the University of Silesia (from 2020); director of the Silesian Science Festival; regular contributor to Tygodnik Powszechny and Polityka. In 2012--2015, he was the member of the Nike Literary Award jury. In 2010, he received the Gdynia Literary Award in the Essay category for his book Ciała Sienkiewicza. Studia o płci i przemocy(2009, re-issued in 2018). He also published a book titled Zdobyć historię. Problem przedstawienia w „Twarzy księżyca” Teodora Parnickiego (1999) and Znakowanie trawy albo praktyki filologii (2011) and edited Tylko Beatrycze by Teodor Parnicki in the Biblioteka Narodowa series (2004). In 2016 his collecton of essays Dobrze się myśli literaturą was published, and won the Silesian Literary Laurel Prize. In 2017, he was given the Kazimierz Wyka Award for outstanding achievements in the field of essay writing, as well as literary and artistic criticism. Co-author of the Poczet pisarzy polskich podcast series available on Spotify, which he co-hosts with Ewa Niewiadomska. He has recently published essay collections – Wiele tytułów (2019, re-issued in 2023) and Czytać, dużo czytać (2023).
