Shalom Auslander

American writer and essayist. He comes from a family of ultra-Orthodox Jews from Monsey, New York. He attended yeshiva and graduated from the Manhattan Talmudica; Academy. However, he eventually rebelled against the rules of the conservative community. Creator of the Happyish series, he regular publishes in The New Yorker, The New York Times and cooperates with the National Public Radio. This year his book Mother for Dinner, in which he uses satire to deal with the pitfalls of contemporary identity politics, was published in Poland.
