Video games are undergoing an evolution similar to the one that cinematography once went through. Initially, they were considered to be empty, plebeian entertainment, but now they are considered to be the “tenth Muse.” Today, video game scripts match the literary panache of movie screenplays, while the games themselves are a visual spectacle that rivals Hollywood productions. The case of the international success of The Witcher also shows that games can be used to promote Polish culture in the world. Has the time come to open a Department of Video Games at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage?
