Algeria - Responsibility and anger

Algeria - Responsibility and anger

In 2014, Kamel Daoud’s debut novel, The Meursault Investigation, was published, in which he retells the story of Albert Camus’ The Stranger from the point of view of a nameless Arab. The head of the Free Islamist Salafi Awakening Front party in Algeria called for Daoud to be executed for blasphemy, as his work was critical of Islam. Despite this, Daoud continues to live in Algeria since, as he says, he cannot agree to exile. During the meeting, he will speak about his vision of an Africa that has no room for religious or political fanaticism.
