The most difficult moment in young authors’ careers comes immediately after their debut. If their book passes without much notice, their fate will not be easy. The Conrad Award – Poland’s first award for best prose debut of the last year – supports writers who have taken their first steps into the world of publishing but their position is yet to be strong enough to reach a wide readership.
