Eviction. Discussion with the participation of Sylwia Chutnik, Michał Kmiecik, Michał Otłowski and Jakub Żulczyk
Host: Monika Ochędowska
One of the darkest pages of the Polish political transformation is the story of wild reprivatization, which resulted in a large group of people finding themselves on the street. Some lost everything, including their lives. We read and still read about it in the media, we constantly learn about new scandals. Unfortunately, the voice of the victims continues to be drowned out, and justice has not been served. How is the dramatic experience of the victims and their uneven fight against the ruthless reprivatization mafia presented in Polish art? Can we count on literature, film, or theater in dealing with a trauma that has a large social impact, but not so large as to encompass the entire community? And more broadly: what does realism mean to contemporary artists? Do they find it necessary and inspiring?
