Literature as a common good. Stories that belong to many. Premiere of Czas Literatury

Literature as a common good. Stories that belong to many. Premiere of Czas Literatury

‘The story belongs to many’ - this sentence opens the latest issue of Czas Literatury, dedicated to writing and literary festivals as forms of communal word life. Potocki Palace will bring together people who look at literature as a space for dialogue and exchange from different angles: Jurij Zawadski, poet, translator and organiser of literary events in Ukraine, Elżbieta Janota, translator and organiser of literary and cultural events, Paulina Rzymanek, literary scholar and critic, and Olga Sabała, editor of the Czas Literatury quarterly.

The talk will explore how literature crosses the boundaries of languages and backgrounds, how it creates a community of experience and emotion, and how it can become a gesture of solidarity in times of crisis. Participants will try to answer the question of when a text ceases to be the property of an individual and becomes a common good - a story that connects creators, translators, readers and listeners.

The meeting promoting the latest issue of Czas Literatury is an invitation to talk about what it means to think of literature as a common good.
