The show consisting of Metamorphosis according to Apuleius, Odyssey and Iphigenia according to Euripides will be presented in the form of a theatrical marathon relating to the main idea of the fourth day of the festival: the Temptation of Myth. The impressive mix of staged art, artistry, text and music is the result of thorough studies that the group from Gardzienice has been conducting for many years. They mostly concern ancient sources of theatre and constitute in reviving techniques of acting, unused for a long time, refreshing the meanings of ancient dramatic texts and reinterpretation of myths. Song and the concept of the birth of drama from the spirit of music plays a very important role in them. Vocal abilities of actors and the organism that the choir is in these shows, astonish with the cohesion and scale of drama. Myths, gods and forces mix on the stage; ecstatic bacchic dances unleash.
Particular parts of the Cosmos were successfully played on the stages of New York, London, Berlin and Moscow, bringing the director and actors great acknowledgement. “The Los Angeles Times” wrote about Gardzienice: Those, who reject the avant-garde theatre as false, perpetuated by intellectual arrogance, have never encountered the work of this group. It is so real and created with such dedication that it brings us so close to the divine significance of art and theatre, that we are inclined to also enter this conflicting, irritable culture. Additionally, the attraction of the performance Iphigenia will be its rare presentation with music of the orchestra conducted by Mikołaj Blajda.
