In spite of the evident success of Polish authors in Poland and abroad, as well as the economic significance of the children's and young adult book market, these genres have been overlooked in public discussion for many years. They never get any reviews in influential papers, they are rarely mentioned on the radio or in television shows, the names of the winners of prestigious never get talked about. Children’s books are mentioned twice a year – around Children's Day and on the Saint Nicholas Day, and when they are, they are usually presented as a toy that goes well together with a onesie, pacifier and rattle. Can we do anything to make children's literature as important and visible as other genres?
