Central and Eastern Europe is a demanding space – marked by history, contradictions, and everyday chaos. It is hard to describe, because it is at once familiar and opaque – always eluding us. And yet it is precisely here that stories arise that could be born nowhere else, full of irony, melancholy, and a peculiar sense of humor. Is our own world, perhaps, always the hardest to grasp? And by settling comfortably into stories we know well, might we be missing a change happening right under our noses?
