13 June 2013 Krakow Poetry Symposium
Thanks to Edward Hirsch and Adam Zagajewski, the Kazimierz district, Jagiellonian University’s Collegium Maius and the Academy for the Dramatic Arts will host meetings with outstanding American, European and Polish poets of all generations between the 17th and the 21st of June. Krakow will be visited by, among others: Durs Grünbein (Germany), Edward Hirsch (the USA), Gwyneth Lewis (Great Britain), Tomaž Šalamun (Slovenia), Susan Stewart (the USA), as well as by young poets and translators who are releasing their debut collections. They will be greeted in Krakow by: Jerzy Kronhold, Ryszard Krynicki, Ewa Lipska, Piotr Sommer, and the event’s host – Adam Zagajewski.
They will meet to talk about the problems of contemporary culture, read poems and work on translations. Some of the meetings will be open to the public and you are most welcome to join us for two poetry evenings: at Muzeum Galicja in Kazimierz (the 19th of June) and at Stanisław Wyspiański Stage at the Academy for the Dramatic Arts (the 20th of June), as well as listen to the debates (every day from the 17th to the 21st of June at 9.30 a.m.) in the Bobrzyński hall at Jagiellonian University’s Collegium Maius.
