28 March 2017 Celebrations of the Conrad Year with a subsidy
The events connected with the celebrations of the Conrad Year prepared by the Krakow Festival Office will receive a grant of over 165 000 PLN from the funds of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
The money will be used for promoting Joseph Conrad and his works, as well as for promoting Krakow as a place which shaped the author.
“Joseph Conrad is one of the most recognisable writers connected with Krakow in the world. The city is where he was taught and where he returned twice. Additionally, for the past ten years, he has been the patron of a great celebration of world literature – the Conrad Festival. The broad promotional programme for the Conrad Year also includes some unique activities aimed at raising awareness, reminding the general audience about the writer, his works and their universal message, as well as his ties to our city. By doing so, we would like to employ some unconventional means in order to bring the classics of world literature closer to the general public – after all, reading Conrad’s works is a sign of intergenerational connection between the readers. Our activities, however, will focus first and foremost on the young generation of literature lovers”, said Robert Piaskowski, Programming Director of the Krakow Festival Office.
The project was financed from the funds of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
