
Alicja Oczko

Born in 1967. A translator of Dutch literature, publisher, editor, reviewer. She graduated from Dutch studies at the University of Wrocław. The list of her translations begins with: The Diary of Anne Frank. She has translated works by Cees Nooteboom, Hella S. Haasse, Bernlef, P.F. Thomése, Matthijs van Boxsel, Moses Isegawa. The Czarne publishing house is going to release her translation of Jan Brokken’s Baltic Souls. She has translated children’s books from German for the Nasza Księgarnia publishing house for which she also worked as a publishing director. Her successes include Duży Dong and Mały Dong awards given by the Polish Section of IBBY for Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief in 2008. She currently works for the Hachette Polska publishing house and lives in Warsaw.
