
Almudena Grandes

(born 1960) – Spanish writer. She studied geography and history at the Complutense University in Madrid. She made her debut in 1989 with the novel Lulu, for which she received the La Sonrisa Vertical Prize. Author of several novels, including El lector de Julio Verne (2012), many of which have been adapted for films. The author has been honoured with the Lara Foundation Award, the Booksellers’ Award (in Madrid and Seville), Rapallo Carige and the Prix Méditerranée. She lives in Madrid.
