Artur Żmijewski
an artist, director, editor(born in 1966) – artist, director, editor. Associated with the Foksal Gallery and Krytyka Polityczna. In 1995, he graduated from the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 2005, he represented Poland at the 51st edition of the Biennale of Art in Venice. He published a collection of interviews with artists, titled Drżące ciała (2007). In 2010, he was awarded the Ordway Prize by Creative Link for the Arts and the New Museum in New York. In 2013, the artist was awarded the Jerzy Stajuda Art Critic Prize. He created dozens of films, his most recent release was The Catastrophe, released in 2010. It has been presented in galleries all over the world, including Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, France, the United States and Switzerland. In his works he constantly negotiates and broadens the boundaries of what is considered art, at the same time linking his art as strongly as possible with his individual experience.
