Beate Sommerfeld

PhD, Professor of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, is the head of the Department of Austrian Literature and Culture and the Department of Translation Studies at the Institute of German Philology of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. She graduated in German, Roman and Slavic philology from the Marburg University and the Paul Valéry University in Montpellier. In 2005, she earned the degree of PhD at the Faculty of Neophilology of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań for her monograph on the reception of Franz Kafka’s works in Poland; in 2014, she received a habilitation degree (for her monograph on memoirs of Hugon von Hofmannsthal, Robert Musil and Franz Kafka). Author of many publications on Austrian literature, word and image studies, media anthropology and the theory of translation.
