Bella Szwarcman-Czarnota

(born 1945) – journalist, editor, translator. Expert on the subject of the world of Jewish women. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Warsaw and Postgraduate Studies for French Language Translators. She translates from French, Russian and Yiddish. She was an editor of the PWN publishing house for many years. She is the author of the entries on Yiddish literature in the PWN Encyclopedia. She was also an employee of the Archives of the Jewish Historical Institute for many years and secretary of the editorial office of the Bulletin of the Jewish Historical Institute. Currently, she is the editor and columnist of the monthly magazine Midrasz.
