
David Vann
prose writer, author of short stories and novels
(born in 1966) – American prose writer, author of short stories and novels. He currently teaches at Warwick University, after teaching at several other universities around the world. In 2011, he received the Guggenheim Fellowships grant. He made his debut in 2008 with a collection of short stories titled Legend of a Suicide (Polish edition: Legenda o samobójstwie, released in 2018), which he wrote over the course of several years and is a partly autobiographical story about the suicide of the writer’s father. Since then, he has published 6 more books. The author received many prestigious awards in the USA and around the world, including the California Book Award (2008) and the St. Francis College Literary Prize (2013). His prose was translated into 23 languages.
