Edward Hirsch
American poet and literary criticEdward Hirsch (born 1950) – an American poet and literary critic known for his activity for the development and promotion of readership, with particular regard to poetry. The president of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial foundation. His texts are published regularly in The New York Times Book Review and The Washington Post Book World. He is the author of the best-seller How to Read a Poem and Fall in Love with Poetry, in which he explains how to read poetry and why it is crucial to the development of culture. He has received many prestigious American literary awards for his poetry volumes, such as Lay Back the Darkness (2003), Special Orders (2008) or Gabriel A Poem (2014).
