Joanna Lisek
Literature scholar, translator, researcher at the Department of Judaism at the University of Wrocław, where she teaches Jewish literature, culture and Yiddish. Her research interests focus mainly on Jewish poetry and women’s activities in Yiddish culture. In 2005 she published the book Jung Wilne – żydowska grupa artystyczna, in which she presented the history of the Jewish artistic formation Jung Wilne (1927–1943) against a historical and social background. She has edited the following collective works: Nieme dusze? Kobiety w kulturze jidysz (2010) and Mykwa – rytuał i historia (2015). She has been published in Studia Judaica, Pamiętnik Literackie, Kultura Ludowa, Midrasz, Słowo Żydowskie, Ciwszna and Zadry. She has translated from Yiddish into Polish works by Chaim Grade, Abraham Suckewer, Puja Rakowska, Kadia Mołodowska, Chana Lewin, Jenta Serdacka and Chava Rosenfarb.
