Joanna Wajs

A poet, literary critic, journalist, and translator from Italian into Polish. She graduated from the Faculty of Polish Philology at the University of Warsaw. She has published in the Gazeta Wyborcza paper, as well as in the Midrasz and Lampa magazines. Her first volume of poetry titled Sprzedawcy kieszonkowych lusterek (Sellers of Pocket Mirrors) has been highly awarded, mainly with the Kazimiera Iłłakowiczówna Prize (2005). She has done Italian-Polish translations of texts by Dino Buzzati, Moniza Alvi and Oriana Fallaci. Since 2005, she has been Chief Editor of the Kocie sprawy magazine. Pictures: Konrad Piskała
