Matthias Göritz

German prose writer, poet, essayist and translator. Having graduated in philosophy and literary studies, he stayed in Moscow and Paris, lectured in New York's Bard College and translated from Korean. His prose debut is The Short Dream of Jakob Voss [Der kurze Traum des Jakob Voss] published in 2005. Told from the perspective of a little child, it is a story of growing up in the shadow of the unappeased father, who tries to fulfil his ambitions in industrial poultry production. In 2006, he performed in Jan Klata’s play Transfer telling about the post-war migration in regions recovered by Poland after World War II and took part in the Warsaw project Wiersze w metrze (Poems in the Subway).Picture: artist's archive On 23rd October in The Pod Baranami Palace Matthias Göritz will discuss about literature of Central-East Europe. After that will read fragments of his prose in Night reading at Cafe Szafe.
