
Miriam Van hee

Outstanding Flemish poet, translator and Slavist. She debuted in 1978 with a volume of poetry on nostalgia, melancholy and solitude. Van Hee has published a number of volumes of poetry (including Behind Closed Doors, Snowed In, Winter Heart, Behind the Mountains, Blackberry Picking) for which she received several prizes (including the Flemish Culture Prize for Poetry in 1998 and the Herman de Coninck Prize in 2008). She has also produced translations of the works by authors such as Osip Mandelstam and Anna Achmatova. She lives in Ghent, Belgium, and is often invited to literary festivals all over the world – on the 3rd of November (Thursday), at 6pm, she was the guest of the 3rd Conrad Festival in Krakow.
