Nona Fernández Silanes
She was born in 1971 in Santiago de Chile. An actress, writer, and playwright with numerous novels, scripts and plays to her name, laureate of the oldest and one of the most prestigious literary prizes in Chile – the Premio Municipal de Literatura de Santiago. A two-time finalist of the National Book Award. Her books have been translated into English, French, German, Italian, Swedish, Greek, Turkish, Norwegian, Dutch and Portuguese. Her novel Zona de penumbra was translated into Polish by Agata Ostrowska and released in Poland by Wydawnictwo ArtRage publishing house. The book was short-listed for the National Book Award in the Literature in Translation category and won the Premio Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz for the best Spanish-language novel written by a woman.
